Following nearly two years of sustained public confrontation, Niger Delta activist Jude Gbaboyor have declared a temporary seven-day ceasefire in their high-profile media campaign against former militant leader High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and his associates.

The announcement marks a significant pause in a long-running public dispute driven by local youth groups over serious security allegations in the oil-rich region.

For almost 24 months, Gbaboyor have utilized social media platforms and public statements to accuse Tompolo’s network of involvement in severe regional security issues, including kidnapping, cases of missing persons, and broader operational irregularities across local communities with Apostle Ezekiel Daniel, Mene Edeyibo, Yemi Otuedon,  Christopher  Sibe and other Niger Delta youths joining him in the fight for justice. 

Tompolo, a prominent figure in the Niger Delta who currently oversees major federal pipeline surveillance contracts, has remained a central target of these allegations.

According to statements issued by Gbaboyor, the decision to suspend public campaign activities comes after direct interventions by prominent Niger Delta elders, traditional rulers, and regional stakeholders seeking to resolve the escalating friction.

"This temporary stand-down is granted in good faith to allow these leaders the necessary space to convene, investigate, and meaningfully tackle the crimes and missing persons cases," Gbaboyor stated, emphasizing that the pause was requested by respected community leaders attempting to mediate a resolution.

Despite agreeing to the week-long truce, campaign leaders emphasized that the suspension of their media campaign is strictly conditional. 

Activists warned that if the seven-day period expires without tangible progress, verifiable investigations, or actionable steps toward addressing their grievances, they will immediately resume their public campaign with increased intensity.

Regional stakeholders are expected to convene emergency talks during the seven-day window to evaluate the allegations and establish a framework for dialogue between the opposing factions.
